Toad's Adventure -- General Script *Introduction* [ Appears first off, and again when left idle at the title screen for long enough for the background music to fade ] [ fade up, coin sound ] 2005 [clear] JDH Interactive Presents [ Fade down, then back up on a scene in the Koopahari Desert. Hot sands blow relentlessly against an important-looking young Magikoopa holding a tome and his small troop of Koopas. Cue desert theme. ] Malek: [ reading from tome ] Eem Heemo Deemo Set! [ pauses oddly ] No, that's not right... hmm... ahh yes! Eem Heemo Deemo Eleemo Set! [ Suddenly the earth quakes and blowing sands white out the screen. Eventually the storms subside and reveal the ancient Mushroom Temple - cue sinister music. ] Malek: Muahahaha! It is as written! The sacred Mushroom Temple, found at last by I, the great Malek, seer of all sights, knower of all knowledge, discombobu... [ A Koopa Troopa coughs, interrupting his diatribe. ] Malek: Fools! You couldn't possibly understand the meaning of this event. I've dedicated my entire life to finding this temple, so that our King can fulfill his destiny and restore our tribe to its past greatness. And now, at last, it stands before us in all its majesty! Come, King Bowser shall be exceedingly pleased! We must return to the Koopa Kingdom immediately! [ Fade out, then back into a more serene meeting in the Mushroom Kingdom. Cue stately music. Chattering commences as we see the eight Mushroom kings gathered around a table. ] King Toadstool: Four-score... [ King 3 interrupts him. ] King 3: Ahh, what I think he means to say is that we should come to order. [ Chattering ceases. ] King Toadstool: Yes, yes, let us proceed with the formalities. Be it decreed by we, the kings of the eight Mushroom Worlds, along with our protectorates, that we shall henceforth combine our armies and resources to deter the Koopa Tribe from any future aggression. Henceforth we shall be known as the Mushroom Alliance! With that said, four-score... [ King 5 interrupts him. ] King 5: Ahh, shall we mobilize our Toadish Brigades immediately, or wait for some sign of trou... [ Suddenly the Chancellor bursts into the room and the rucus immediately resumes. ] Chancellor: My lords, a small band of Koopa have discovered the ancient Mushroom Temple in the Koopahari Desert! King 2: [ speaks with concern ] Wha?!? Those terrible terrapins have tread on the soil of my kingdom?? King 1: The Mushroom Temple! Surely this is not a good sign! King 7: This is terrible, just terrible! King Toadstool: Order, men, order. Surely you know that no turtle could enter that Temple without the key, and well, according to legend, that rusty old thing was lost millennia ago, banished from the reach of all mortals by the Stars. [ Chattering ceases again. ] King 6: But what if they've found it? We should do something! King 4: I second the motion! Let us take action! King Toadstool: Well then, this is just the opportunity we need to demonstrate our new powers. Have your troops on guard! Bowser could attack from anywhere, but he'll probably come from the south again. Now, with this resolved, four-score... [ Chattering commences and continues to fade-out. Fade up onto a scene in Bowser's Court. Cue Bowser's Castle music. ] Bowser: What do YOU want? Malek: Your majesty, you shall be pleased! I have divined the location and purpose of the ancient Mushroom Temple. It's not just a legend, I've seen it with my own eyes! Bowser: Well so WHAT?! Was this worth interrupting my weekly horn sharpening? Malek: [ undeterred ] My liege, it seems that the temple is the original gate to the Star Road! Great power flows from this place, in fact it is the source of Princess Toadstool's hereditary magic! By controlling the temple, you control all the Stars' influence on our world; you will be truly undefeatable! I urge you, attack now like never before! We must seize the temple with great haste, and then move to control the rest of the world. Bowser: Kammy said the same thing when I stole the Star Rod, and look where THAT got us! Malek: But my liege, all the tomes agree on this matter. The master of the Mushroom Temple is granted magic far beyond any other! I can't possibly be wrong, unlike dear old Kammy, who's just one broom short of a closet... Bowser: BWAHAHAHA! I really like the sound of this. Plus, our armies are more than prepared... READY THE KOOPA PACK SUPER ATTACK! [ Suddenly we are shown the Koopa armies moving out en masse. Tanks, doom ships, infantry, and swarms of Lakitu pass by in seemingly endless lines -- flash to a scene outside the Mushroom Kingdom. ] Toadish Soldier 1: Look, out there! Toadish Soldier 2: They've come from over the Subcon Range; it's a surprise attack! Toadish Soldier 3: [ in horror ] They're in full force! Toadish Leader: Stand your ground, shrooms! [ Zoom out to reveal a large army of Mushrooms in wait -- cue sinister music and proceed to flash to static scenes of near-combat as the two sides face off, neither seemingly able to take on the other without incurring equal loss. Flash then to the Chancellor. ] Chancellor: Tell everyone! The war has begun! [ Fade to black, then up to title screen. Cue Super Mario Bros. Theme Remix. ] TOAD'S ADVENTURE * Beginning of a new game * [ Fade into a scene in Toad's bedroom at night. The little fungus is asleep in his bed when suddenly a Bullet Bill crashes through his window and continues on through his house. ] Toad: EEK! What was that?? [ Another comes right through the hole left by the last and continues on. Our hero gets out of bed, and control commences momentarily. Toad must proceed through the village to the Chancellor's house, Bullet Bill and relatives threaten along the way as the village is under seige. Toad must defeat the Banzai Bill mini-boss. Once at the Chancellor's house the dialog resumes. ] Chancellor: Oh, Toad, it's you! I was so worried! [ explosions and cannons firing can be heard in the background ] A small group of tanks broke through the front lines and are pummeling our city, but the Mario Brothers have already volunteered their services as always. We'd be lost without them... but... I'm not sure if they're enough, even combined with all our armies. Prince Pine sends word that Jewelry Land is under attack, and Koopa battleships were spotted trying to blockade Mario's own kingdom of Mario Land! Toad: This is really bad, Chancellor! Is the Princess safe? Chancellor: Oh yes, I had her transported back to her castle at Toad Town via convoy. They have the place locked down like a prison. No Koopa is getting in there with anything short of the Bob-omb King himself. Toad: Phew, that's a relief. Chancellor: Toad... You know I believe in you, right? You're a hero just as much as anyone else in this Kingdom, Mario and Luigi included. That's why I want to ask you to take on a challenge. It will be fraught with danger, but it is of absolute necessity! Toad: Anything, Chancellor! Just ask. [ Background explosions come to a halt as dawn begins to break. ] Chancellor: Oh good, I knew you'd be willing. I want you to head out around the Koopa's front lines, make your way to the Koopahari Desert, and find the ancient Mushroom Temple. The evil Magikoopa Malek has discovered its location. We can hold back Bowser for a while now, but if he somehow manages to enter that temple, we're all doomed! Toad: But how could he ever enter the temple? If I remember the legends correctly, it was magically sealed thousands of years ago. Chancellor: Knowing that turtle's treacherous ways, he'll find something. Malek is a very powerful wizard, and I'm sure he's been working on this plan for a very long time. Toad: I understand. But what do I do once I get there? Chancellor: I can't tell you, Toad. I only hope that once you see the place, it will guide you personally. The closest route is over the Subcon Range, near where Bowser attacked us. It's a difficult path but I know you can do it. You should probably leave immediately, before it gets any worse around here. Good luck, friend! Toad: Thanks, Chancellor! [ leaves the Chancellor's house - soliloquy] Gee I guess this is really it. It's been a while since I was a real hero... [ thinks back to SMB2, Wart appears in a thought bubble laughing ] That's it, I can do it! I have to support my friends, and there's no better way. Koopahari, here I come! [ Toad heads out of the village, game begins in the Mushroom Kingdom. ]
