Christopher Belmont faces Dracula after his first 100 year sleep. Christopher proves to be nearly as powerful as his ancestor Sonia, rediscovering the power to unleash fire from the Vampire Killer whip, and battling to Dracula faster than any of his predecessors.

However, Dracula now wisely feared the Belmont name and recognized this new, even greater power. So, he devised an ingenious plan he felt would guarantee his victory. He allowed Christopher to come to him and battle him with his full power, but before he could be vanquished, Dracula faded away to mist and hid in the shadows. Christopher, fully believing that he had undone the Dark Lord, never saw a vampire bat flying away from the crumbling ruins of Castlevania...
