Ninja Grandmaster Sasuke is an interesting Rare from the Soul of the Duelist set. He specializes in busting up Defense Position monsters. Through his effect, no face-up Defense Position monster, regardless of strength, can survive his attack. Even Total Defense Shogun, whom I reviewed the other day, is helpless against this monster.

As an added bonus, this Ninja is capable of avoiding the effect of D. D. Warrior Lady. If one is face-up on your opponent's field for some reason, attacking it with this card results in it being destroyed with no opportunity to activate its effect.

The basic statistics of this card are also very good. Light Attribute and Warrior Type give it strong support. In addition, this card can exploit Ninja-specific support, including the Equip Spell "Fuhma Shuriken", the Trap "Ninjitsu Art of Decoy", and the powerful Trap "Ninjitsu Art of Transformation", which, among other things, can be used to Special Summon Insect Queen. 1800 ATK is strong, and 1000 DEF is searchable in Traditional format.

Ninja Grandmaster Sasuke gets a Good rating. He's a beatstick with a ton of support and a very good effect to use against opponents who have high-defense monsters. Unfortunately for me, the people at the last casual play session weren't interested in defending -- they were too busy attacking with their Giant Orcs. And that will take us on to the next card...
