Equip Spell Card
LON-019, Super Rare

"The monster equipped with this card cannot attack. In addition, the player controlling the equipped monster must take damage of 500 Life Points during each of your Standby Phases."

Here's one of the Labyrinth of Nightmare series of Mask cards which were the signature cards of the Rare Hunters Lumis and Umbra in the anime, and this is one of the better ones (not like the terrible Mask of Brutality or the mostly useless Mask of Weakness).

This card has a decent effect that makes it a candidate for use in high-stall burn decks. You get to simultaneously freeze a monster and punish its user for every turn that it remains on the field. This is a lot of fun to slap onto a high-level monster. This is probably meant to be played along with the Mask of Restrict, which stops all tributes, since one of the first courses of action anyone will take with a monster who's been equipped with this card is to tribute it away for something else, even if it's a bit weaker.

Obviously, this card leaves something to be desired. If it were harder to destroy somehow or if it did a lot more damage, it would be fearful. As is, it's just another Spellbinding-Circle-like card with a burn effect. In burn decks, you want to do direct damage as fast as possible, and using a card that only does 500 once per turn really isn't that fast. This is a card that's great to use until you can get ahold of something better, though.

Because this card is REALLY annoying to have to go up against, I'll give it a 4/10. If it manages to tick me off so often when used against me, there must be something to it. Plus, the artwork is really cool. Those Hellraiser-style pins are very sadistic. Someone once offered me a decent trade for this just because they liked the way it looks :)
